1. Rewrite the following in the reported speech.
‘Follow my example,’ she said as she shook hands ‘and never eat more than one thing for luncheon.’ ‘I’ll do better than that’, I retorted. ‘I’ll eat nothing for dinner to night’, ‘Humorist’, she cried gaily, jumping, into a cab, ‘you are quite a humorist’.
Answer: She advised me as she shook hands to follow her example and never to eat more than one thing for luncheon. I retorted that I would do better than that and also added that I would eat nothing for dinner that night. Jumping in to a cab she cried out gaily calling me humorist and also said that I was quite a humorist.
Note: এ প্রশ্নের উত্তর করতে tense ব্যবহার এবং sentence এর প্রকারভেদ জানতে হবে। কারণ Reporting Verb পরিবর্তন হয় Reporting speech এর sentence এবং কোটেশন (‘—’) চিহ্ন উঠে কোথায় that, if (বা সংশ্লিষ্ট Relative pronoun) এবং to’ বসে তার নিয়মও মনে রাখতে হবে। যা আমরা ইতিপূর্বে Basic Grammar এর নিয়মে আলোচনা করেছি।

c. When his master sat down to eat, he quickly noticed the mission leg (compound). He asked what had happened to the other leg.
d. The cook told him that the duck had one leg only (negative). The master was not to be fooled. He said that there was on such thing as a one-lagged duck.
e. The cook insisted that that this duck had only one leg (simple)
