Retired professor of Physics Department Md Nurul Alam has been appointed as the 21st Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) for the next four years.
He will perform the duty of VC till March 1, 2026.
A notification, signed by the deputy secretary of the Ministry of Education Md Mahmudul Alam, confirmed the appointment on Tuesday.It said, according to article 11 (1) of the Jahangirnagar University Act 1973, the Chancellor of the university, President Abdul Hamid, appointed Prof Nurul Alam as Vice-Chancellor of the university.
Prof Nurul Alam was performing the duty of acting VC from March 1 after ending the tenure of his predecessor Dr Farzana Islam.
In his immediate reaction, Nurul Alam thanked President Abdul Hamid and sought cooperation from all to perform his new job.
