Teachers' Day observed in country

Teachers' Day was observed on Thursday across the country.

The day was observed aiming to ensure the status of the teachers, and their social safety and ensure a sustainable environment of education.

This year, the theme of the day is the ‘educational system was introduced by the teachers’.

Marking the day, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamt of an educated and independent nation. His daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to ensure education for all. But the quality of the education will have to be ensured by the teachers as the government improved their financial condition.

She also said the government is increasing allocation in the education sector in every national budget targeting a modern and world-class education system.

Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Nehal Ahmed presided over the function while Primary and Mass Education senior Secretary Md Aminul Islam Khan, and Technical and Madrasa Education Division Secretary Kamal Hossain, spoke the function, among others.

Earlier, a rally was brought out on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni and other high officials of the government participated in the rally.
