IMF DMD meets DU VC

Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Antoinette Monsio Sayeh paid a courtesy call on the Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at the latter's office in the capital on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the VC apprised the IMF Deputy Managing Director of a brief history of Dhaka University and its academic and research programmes.

This largest public university in the country has been running with full government funds since its inception, said Dr Akhtaruzzaman, reports BSS.

Antoinette Monsio Sayeh highly praised this historic Dhaka University and expressed her happiness to know that a huge number of students have been pursuing tertiary-level education with residential facilities at this premier and prestigious public university which is fully funded by the government.

Akhtaruzzaman thanked the IMF DMD for her visit and her keen interest in its academic and research activities.

After the meeting, Antoinette Monsio visited the university's Economics Department and participated in a view-exchange meeting and a question/answer session with the faculty members and students of the department.
