Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) celebrated the 81st birth anniversary of eminent nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband Dr. M A Wazed Miah on Thursday.
The BRUR authority celebrated the birth anniversary with programs including placing wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed at his native village Laldighee Fatehpur in Pirganj upazila and milad and doa mehfil at the central mosque of the university.
Vice-Chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr Md Hasibur Rashid with Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mojib Uddin Ahamed placed wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed in village Laldighee Fatehpur at 10 am.Later, leaders of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association, Begum Rokeya University Officers’ Association and officials of Dr. Wazed Research Institute of the university placed wreaths there.
Later, the Vice-chancellor with teachers, students and officials of the university offered Fateha and munajats there seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of Dr. Wazed and welfare of his other family members.
