Dhaka University (DU) has been closed for an indefinite period amid the ongoing movements by students demanding reformation in the quota system in government jobs.

The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the syndicate on Wednesday morning, the highest policy-making body of the university, as per the government directive last night.

All the residential students have been asked to leave their dormitories by 6:00 pm.

The meeting was also decided that students will be reallocated hall rooms according to a merit based list.
