There is an aesthetic campus with a vast, green field at the front. Bashundhara Public School and College (BPSC) is set to start academic activities on 1 January 2025, offering world-class education and unlimited opportunities for sports. A seven-story school campus, designed by renowned Bangladeshi architect Mohammad Foyez Ullah, has been built on 10 bighas of land in Block N of Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital. The campus features open spaces, lush greenery and various recreational facilities aimed at fostering students’ mental and social development.

An institution that excels in education, sports regarding the modern academy, BPSC Principal Brigadier General (retd) Md Anisur Rahman said the school authorities aim to improve the quality of education through sports, values and ethics.

“There’ll be world-class teaching methods, drawing on the experiences of top-performing schools of the developed world. The specialty of this school is having all kinds of sports activities alongside study. Children can’t play in Dhaka city for lack of fields,” he said.

All students of BPSC will access all kinds of sports opportunities in Bashundhara Sports Complex, which is close to the school. There are experienced instructors to teach them how to swim in the swimming pool. This institution is unique of its kind in the country.

The principal mentioned that the academic programme of the school is starting on 1 January next.

“We’re giving priority to children’s education as well as overall safety. All arrangements have been made to ensure security on the entire campus. Parents will be automatically notified when children get on and off the school bus,” the seasoned academician added.

The BPSC will offer NFC (near-field communication) cards for all students to ensure tech-based surveillance inside and outside the campus to make guardians tension-free.

A modern and safe learning environment has been ensured for students. The building has three corridors on both sides and in the middle. Apart from this, there are open balconies and lift facilities all around. For this, students and teachers can move safely and comfortably. There are adequate lighting and ventilation on the entire campus, including classrooms.

A wider campus has a positive impact on the learning process of students, especially in the early stage of life. When students enter the BPSC campus, they will experience a difference from other academic institutions.

The BPSC is arranged in such a way that it seems like a world. Through the drawing, the story of the young child who comes to the first school holding the hands of his/her parents, passing through the exuberant adolescence and reaching the desired goal with the enthusiasm of youth is depicted. By raising their hands here, students will be able to develop into enlightened people by seeking knowledge.

Students need to use digital ID cards to enter the school. They can use this card to pay bus service, cafeteria and even tuition fees. Students must leave the school premises using the card. This digital ID card will play a role in cashless transactions.

The BPSC ensures 1,000 square feet of space for each classroom. The classrooms are built in two rows. Each of the four sections in every class has been assigned a distinct colour. These colours symbolise different values that will foster the students’ mental development. For instance, blue represents ambition, green signifies peace, yellow denotes self-confidence and orange symbolises determination.

Each classroom is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and is air-conditioned. Classrooms have smart boards and projectors.

Students can easily keep pace with the modern education system and acquire technical skills. According to the school authorities, sports and physical activities have a significant impact on students’ overall development and preparations for higher education.

Regarding the curriculum, Principal Anisur Rahman said the BPSC academic curriculum is being developed in an organised and balanced way.

“It ensures diversity and depth of content for pre-primary, primary and secondary students. Apart from Bengali, English, Math, Science and other subjects, the institution also has opportunities for creative and practical education. Subjects like dance, singing, drama and drawing are included to enhance students’ creativity,” he said.

There are various subject-wise clubs where students can participate and develop their talents while each club has a separate studio. The school has a language lab. Experienced doctors and psychiatrists will ensure the physical and mental health of the students.

The BPSC has a modern computer lab for students. The academy focuses on information technology where students can prepare themselves to excel in future careers.

It lays special emphasis on technology innovation and coding education apart from state-of-the-art laboratories for science and math education.
