Tk 1.5 crore worth of gold was found under the seat of the plane

The preventive unit of Dhaka Customs House has recovered 16 gold bars worth Tk 1.5 crore abandoned from inside the pipe under the two seats of ‘Arun Alo’ aircraft of Bangladesh Biman Boeing 777.

The gold bars were recovered from the plane in a 12-hour long operation on Sunday night.

According to Dhaka Customs House sources, Bangladesh Biman flight BG348 from Dubai landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:38 am on Sunday morning. Customs officials had information that the plane was carrying gold cargo.

Based on the information, the customs officials beefed up security at the entire airport. After landing at Shahjalal, the aircraft was taken to the hangar gate of the airport to be searched once the passengers disembarked.

A search operation was conducted there for more than 12 hours. The long search operation ended at 9:40 p.m on Sunday. After the search, 16 gold bars were recovered. The recovered gold bar weighs 1 kg 856 grams. The market value of which is about 1 crore 40 lakh taka.
