Tree plantation at Bashundhara on 'Global Ismaili CIVIC Day'

Volunteers of the Ismaili Community in Bangladesh took the initiative of planting 1,000 trees to mark the Global Ismaili CIVIC Day.

As part of the initiative, they planted trees at the ‘K’ block of Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital at 11:00 am on Saturday.

Aga Khan Council President Amyn Saleh, member Hamida Virani and volunteers of the organisation were present on the occasion.

With a view to creating a greener world, on Global Ismaili CIVIC Day, thousands of volunteers across the globe come together and pledge to offer thousands of hours of voluntary service for the betterment of the world's environment.

The Global Ismaili CIVIC Day is an annual Ismaili CIVIC signature event held every year on September 25. It is a global programme under which the Ismaili Muslim community across the world has united around its centuries-old tradition of serving humanity by rendering voluntary service to improve the quality of life of the communities in which they live, regardless of faith, gender and background. This international endeavour reflects the community’s ethic of civic engagement and good citizenship.
