BCL sues 18 Chhatra Odhikar Parishad men

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) filed a case against 18 members of the Chhatra Odhikar Parishad and around 140-150 unnamed persons for diatribe BCL at a programme in Dhaka University with outsiders marking the death anniversary of BUET student Abrar Fahad on Friday.

BCL organising secretary Nazim Uddin lodged the case with Shahbag Police Station at last night.      

Golam Mostafa, inspector of Shahbag Police Station confirmed the matter on Saturday morning.   

The accused are Chhatra Odhikar Parishad vice president Tariqul Islam, joint general secretary HM Rubel Hossain, member Taslim Hossain Ovi and Mizan Uddin, its Dhaka University unit president Aktar Hossain, general secretary Akram Hossain, vice president Asif Mahmud, social media affairs secretary Abdul Quader, Dhaka College unit vice president Md Rakib, Bongshal unit member Md Omar Faruk Zihad, it's activist Tawhidul Islam Tuhin, Mamunur Rashid, Nazmul Hasan, Saddam Hossain, Yusuf Hossain, Belal Hossain, Abu Kawser Hawlader and Mahfuz.

Nazim Uddin said, “We were going to join a programme at TSC. They (Chatra Adhikar Parishad) were conducting a programme with some school students, outsiders seeking justice for Abrar's murderers. On information, the proctorial team reached the spot and asked them to stop the programme as it has no permission. In reply, they misbehaved with the proctorial body and us. At one stage some of their men threw brick-bats at us leaving some of our men injured including me. Later, some students chased them away. We filed a case with Shahbag Police Station in this regard,” he said.
