A court in the capital on Sunday issued arrest warrant against 26 leaders and activists of BNP including Jubo Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, BNP leader Saiful Islam Nirob in a case lodged for attacking police and obstructing them from conducting their job, reports BSS.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order as the accused failed to appear before the court for the hearing today.
According to the case documents, hundreds of leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies tried to bring out a procession towards Shahbagh from Matshya Bhaban area on February 13, 2021. As police obstructed them there, the BNP men allegedly started throwing brickbats on them and tried to obstruct police to conduct their professional duties.Then sub-inspector Anwar Hossain of Ramna Police Station later filed the case over that incident.
