Police detained 40 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Tuesday (December 27).                    

A total of 12,645 pieces of yaba, 114 grams of heroin, 40 bottles of phensidyle, and 23 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Twenty-nine cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
