The voting for Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) elections ended peacefully with much enthusiasm on Tuesday.
The vote casting started at 8:30 am and continued till 4:30 pm without any break.
Voting at a centre under ward no 31 has been halted for one-and-a-half-hour due to a technical glitch in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).Ruling Awami League nominated mayoral candidate advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia has cast her vote at Lions School and College centre around 9:30 am.
She expressed hope for her victory in the elections.
Jatiya Party’s mayoral candidate Mostafizur Rahman cast his franchise at Alamnagar College Road Govt Primary School centre in the morning.
Meanwhile, tight security measures including six-tier security were taken to hold the election peacefully and maintain law and order.
