Police detained 59 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Saturday (January 28).                   

A total of 5,083 pieces of yaba, 145 grams of heroin, 59 bottles of phensidyle, 25 injections and 54 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Forty-five cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
