Police detained 40 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Friday (February 24).                 

A total of 4,149 pieces of yaba, 131 grams of heroin, 5 bottles of phensidyle, 3 litres of local liquor and 6 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Twenty-three cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
