The Ninth Intergovernmental Session of the IOC Regional Committee for the Central Indian Ocean Conference (IOCINDIO) started at Hotel InterContinental in the capital on Tuesday.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen addressed the conference through video message as the chief guest.
IOCINDIO President Rear Admiral (Retd.) Mohammad Khurshed Alam presided over the conference where representatives of the 18 countries including its executive secretary Vladimir Ryabinin participated.Speakers at the conference pointed out the possible blue economy of the Indian Ocean.
Momen called upon to work unitedly to face climate change, ocean observation and conduct scientific research on the ocean.
He also emphasized the increase of research in the Bay of Bengal and its possible blue economy.
