Police detained 53 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Saturday (May 6).                 

A total of 2,494 pieces of yaba, 200 grams of heroin, 6 bottles of local liquor and 21.5 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Thirty-six cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
