Police detained 55 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Tuesday (May 30).                 

A total of 9,968 pieces of yaba, 30 grams of heroin, 50 bottles of foreign liquor, 750ml of local liquor, 20 drug injections and 55.67 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Thirty-five cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
