Police detained 53 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Tuesday (July 18).                   

A total of 3,299 pieces of yaba, 234 grams of heroin, 20 bottles of phensidyle and 3.6 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Thirty-nine cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
