Ashraful Alom, better known as Hero Alam, has appealed to the Election Commission seeking the cancellation of the results of the July 17 by-polls in the Dhaka-17 constituency.

He also demanded a fresh election in the constituency.

He contested in Dhaka-17 constituency by-polls as an independent candidate and was defeated by Awami League nominated candidate Mohammad Ali Arafat.

Hero Alam was attacked at a voting centre by some miscreants. The law enforcement agencies have arrested a few of them.
