Police detained 59 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Thursday (July 27).                    

A total of 16,322 pieces of yaba, 65 grams of heroin, 5 litres of local liquor and 9.25 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Thirty-seven cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
