Police detained 53 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Thursday (August 3).                 

A total of 87,188 pieces of yaba, 110 grams of heroin, 25 bottles of foreign liquor, 22 litres of local liquor and 3.1 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Thirty-five cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
