Police detained 48 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Sunday (August 20).                 

A total of 8,891 pieces of yaba, 12.5 grams of heroin, 11 bottles of phensidyle, 100 bottles of local liquor and 5.9 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Thirty-five cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
