Police detained 56 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Thursday (August 24).                     

A total of 52,962 pieces of yaba, 51 grams of heroin, 3 bottles of phensidyle, 13 bottles of local liquor, 40 injections and 24.85 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions. 

Thirty-eight cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
