Police detained 55 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Thursday (August 31).                   

A total of 34,016 pieces of yaba, 121.7 grams of heroin, 112 bottles of phensidyle, and 14.5 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions.

Thirty-six cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
