‘BNP to hold peaceful rally on October 28’

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said the leaders and activists of the party have been asked to hold a peaceful rally on October 28 in the capital to press home their demand for the resignation of the ruling government.

“We did not ask our leaders and activists to hold a sit-in programme in Dhaka on October 28, rather we asked them to return to their respective homes after the rally and wait for further instruction from the party,” he said, reports Daily Sun.

While addressing a press conference after a joint meeting held at the party’s Nayapaltan central office, Fakhrul said that his party will not come up with any announcement of holding a sit-in programme in Dhaka on October 28.

Meanwhile, a sense of fear has gripped the country’s people over the possible political conflict as BNP threatened to launch a grand journey to topple the current government from their October 28 rally.

Besides, the ruling Awami League has also vowed to block them (BNP) and keep the city streets under their absolute occupation.

Responding to a query, Mirza Fakhrul said that BNP is not like other political parties and warned that his party men will not remain idle if the ruling party attempts to block them on the street.
