Shamsuzzaman Dudu on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court on Monday placed BNP vice-chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu on a three-day remand in a case filed with Ramna Police Station over an attack on the official residence of Chief Justice (CJ) during BNP's grand rally in the capital on October 28.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order when police produced Dudu before the court and sought permission to interrogate him for five days in custody.

Earlier in the day, Dudu was arrested from his sister's house.

BNP men attacked the residence of the chief justice, breaking down one of the gates. They also hurled brickbats towards the main building.

Later, police registered a case against 59 BNP leaders and activists including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas.
