Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn), National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Dhaka Customs authority, in joint drives, detained four passengers with 6.956 kilograms of gold from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Saturday.
The detainees are -- Md Ali Hossain, Jasim Uddin, Litu Mia and Jummon Khan.
Additional Superintendent of Police of the Airport Armed Police Battalion Mohammad Ziaul Haque said in separate drives they seized the gold in the early hours of Saturday and Friday midnight.Ali Hossain arrived at the Airport on a US Bangla Airlines flight from Dubai at 5:00 am on Saturday.
The three others arrived at the airport by a different flight six hours earlier, at 11:00 pm on Friday.
The estimated market value of the gold is Tk 7 crore, he said.
A case was registered at the Airport Police Station in this regard.
