Police detained 53 people from various spots of the capital on charges of drug dealing and peddling in separate drives during the last 24 hours. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Pratidin on Tuesday (December 19). 

A total of 6,902 pieces of yaba, 19 grams of heroin, 80 bottles of phensidyl, and 4.5 kg of hemp were seized from their possessions. 

Forty-two cases were filed with respective police stations in this regard under the narcotic control act, police said.
