The US-based International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) joint election assessment delegation on Wednesday held a meeting with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman at the latter’s office.

The delegation discussed various issues especially current situation of the national elections. They wanted to know about the DMP’s preparations and measures to prevent untoward situation centering the elections, which will be held on January 7, reports state news agency BSS.

The team was represented by Natasha Rothchild, mission coordinator, Ivaylo Pentchev, information environment analyst, Mariam Tabatadze, gender and inclusion analyst, Crispin Kaheru, security and state response analyst, Nenad Marinkovic, security and physical violence analyst, Kazi Shahidul Islam, Bangladesh representative and Mir Nurani Rupoma, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Foreign Ministry.

The US team was arrived in Dhaka to observe pre and post-election situations.
