2 dead in Tejgaon slum fire

2 people were killed in fire incident in Mollabari slum of Tejgaon area in the capital, despite the fire was brought under control after an effort of more than one hour.

Two more people were admitted into Sheikh Hasina Burn Unit and are undergoing treatment there.

On Friday (January 12) night, the fire service received information about the fire incident. 8 units reached the spot and started work to control the fire. Later, the fire was brought under control around 4:30 pm with the efforts of 13 units.

Police say that the bodies of two people, including a woman and a child, have been recovered in the incident. In addition, two people were burnt. They have been taken to Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute and undergoing treatment there.

An official of Tejgaon Fire Station said the slum is located next to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in Tejgaon. However, he could not tell the exact reason behind the fire.
