No liquidity shortage in banks: BAB

Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB) in a statement on Monday has said that there is no liquidity crisis in the banks at present.

According to the statement, signed by BAB and Exim Bank Chairman Nazrul Islam Majumder said that there is a negative campaign going on over the liquidity crunch in the banking sector. But this is not true. Liquidity in the banks is stable.

There is a liquidity of Tk 1.70 lakh crore remaining in the banking sector at present, which is more than the requirement, he said, reports UNB.

BAB issued the statement after discussing the current situation of the banking sector in a meeting.
