Inflation stands at 9.93% in Oct

Country’s inflation increased to 9.93 per cent in October from 9.63 per cent in September, according to data released by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Monday, reports Daily Sun.

Non-food inflation increased by 0.48 to 8.30 per cent in October from 7.82 per cent in September while food inflation rose by 0.19 per cent to 12.56 in October from 12.37 per cent in September.

The inflation in rural areas rose to 9.99 per cent in October from 9.75 per cent in September while the inflation in cities increased to 8.01per cent during that time from 7.42 per cent in September.

According to data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), rural food inflation stood at 12.53 per cent in October, 12.51 per cent in September, 12.54 per cent in August, and 9.76 per cent in July this year.

In contrast, urban food inflation was slightly lower, with rates of 12.58 per cent in October, 12.01 per cent in September, 12.11 per cent in August, and 9.63 per cent in July.

However, overall inflation has been rising for several years, reaching 9.02 per cent in FY23, 6.15 per cent in FY22, and 5.56 per cent in FY21.
