The World Cup Football 2022, which is signified as ‘The greatest Show on Earth’ is going to be started on Sunday. The excitement centering on the world cup is also being felt hugely in Bangladesh.

The news on the craze of world cup among the Bangladeshis were also published in US media The Washington Post on Friday. The craze and excitement of the people for the world cup have just begun and seems like it has no end.

The nation already got prepared to celebrate the world cup which has been reflected in their purchasing of the jerseys of favorite teams, hanging flags on walls and rooftops, painting pictures of favorite players on the walls, coloring the whole house depicting the favorite teams and bringing out rallies supporting the teams.

But, amid the huge celebrations, some incidents of accident were also heard. A few supporters got electrocuted while hanging flags on the rooftops. In some places, supporters’ verbal conflicts turned into physical attack

Meanwhile, the streets, shops, restaurants and rooftop of the residential buildings in the capital have been covered with the flags of big teams participating in the world cup. The flags of Argentina and Brazil are predominantly visible, but also the flags of Germany, Spain, France and Portugal are also seen. It seems like the supporters are in competition of showing their craze to their favorite teams by hanging flags of bigger sizes.

The craze about jersey comes after hanging the flags. People of different classes are buying the jersey of their favorite teams according to their choice and abilities. Besides, according to the sports products shop owners in Dhaka , the caps with logo of the teams printed on them are being also sold well. Even, some shop owners are selling Lungi, the traditional Bengali outfit printed with the color of flags of different teams.

As part of the crazy celebration, the supporters of Argentina and Brazil jointly arranged a different programme in the capital on Saturday. The supporters of the two teams living in Mugda Thana brought out a procession to welcome the world cup. The procession began in Mugda and crossing Kamlapur, Matijheel and Paltan it ended at National Press Club. The combined procession of the supporters of the two teams carried out large flags Bangladesh in addition to large flags of of Brazil and Argentina.

The same kind of craze was also going on outside the capital. Abu Kawsar Mintu of Brahmanbaria made an extraordinary example. With the money he got from selling his mango orchard and what he got from his wife, he prepared a four-kilometer long flag of South Korea.

Besides, the craze and excitement centering World Cup Football are also spread in Rangamati districts in Chattogram hill tracts. The Bir Muktijoddha Mojaffar Ahmad Talukder bridge in the city connecting Reserve Bazar and Jhulukkapara was colored with blue and white according to the Argentine flag.

The craze over Brazil and Argentina football teams among the Bangladeshis is really an extraordinary example, which also made the US media The Washington Post interested. It published a report on the Bangladeshi supporters of these two teams. The report focused mainly on the tradition of hanging flags of favorite teams by the people of the country.
