South Korea hold Uruguay to 0-0 draw

Asian South Korea and South American country Uruguay started their World Cup journey with a 0-0 draw at Qatar's Education City Stadium on Thursday.

The third meeting between Uruguay and South Korea in the history of the FIFA World Cup ended in a stalemate.

Uruguay, the former world champions had defeated South Korea 1-0 in the group stage of the 1990 World Cup. It also emerged victorious over South Korea (2-1) in the round of 16 phase of the 2010 World Cup. But this time it is very unlucky.

On the other hand, South Korea had a chance to beat Uruguay as two Asian countries Saudi Arabia and Japan defeated two football superpowers Argentina and Germany respectively in their first game in the World Cup.

Asian spectators were eagerly waiting for a win against Uruguay. However, South Korea will have to be happy to share one point each with the South American country.

Uruguay will next face Portugal in Group H while South Korea plays Ghana.
