The Netherlands have become the first team to reach the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as they beat the USA 3-1 in the first match of Round of 16, reports UNB.
It was the organized team effort of the Dutchmen that led them coming out successfully despite USA controlled the game mostly.
Memphis Depay gave the Orange an early lead with a goal in the 10th minute. Daley Blind would double the Dutch lead in the closing minutes of the first half, as both goals were expertly assisted by Denzel Dumfries.The USA would pull one back courtesy of Haji Wright, who scored from a Christian Pulisic cross in the 76th minute.
Their hopes of a comeback were dashed, however, as Denzel Dumfries capped off an outstanding performance with a goal in the 81st minute to make it 3-1 for the Netherlands.
