Morocco have progressed to the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in their history after beating Spain on penalties 3-0. On the other hand, La Roja's Qatar World Cup run have ended with this defeat, reports UNB.
As always, the game was dominated by Spain, with 77 per cent possession and 1019 passes to Morocco's 304. But the stubborn Moroccan defense only allowed a single shot on target from La Roja.
Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon was tested on occasion by the Moroccan players as well, but in the end neither defense conceded any goals.Extra time passed quickly, as Pablo Sarabia hit the crossbar in the dying minutes. Morocco took the first penalty and converted, as their goalkeeper Bono saved three out of three.
