DGHS concerned over rise of dengue cases

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) expressed concern over the rise of dengue cases ahead of the monsoon of breeding of the Aedes mosquito.

Speaking at a meeting at the headquarters of the health directorate in city’s Mohakhali area on Wednesday, Prof Dr Nazmul Islam, director (Disease Control) said the number of dengue patients has increased several times.

“After analysing information and data of the last year’s dengue situation, we have seen that the number of dengue patients has increased several times in just before the monsoon,” he said.

Nazmul Islam said since the rain has not started in a full swing yet in the country, measures should be taken as precaution to prevent the further increase of the dengue patients, reports Daily Sun.
