Seven more dengue patients died in the country in the last 24 hours, the highest death toll on a single day, in the current year.

At the same time, a total of 1,623 new patients were hospitalized for the disease all over the country.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday, as many as 1,168 dengue patients were hospitalized in Dhaka city and 455 patients were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka during the period.

The number of dengue patients reached now 4,947 across the country, said DGHS. 

The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019.
