Dengue claims 21 more lives

Bangladesh has logged 21 more deaths from dengue infection in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning. 

The total dengue death toll this year has risen to 867 setting a new record in the country’s history. 

At the same time, a total of 3,015 new patients were hospitalized for the disease all over the country.       

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the new patients, 857 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and the rest outside the capital--indicating a worsening situation across the country.

The number of dengue patients reached 10,263 across the country, said DGHS.         

So far, the DGHS has recorded 176,810 dengue cases and 165,680 recoveries this year. 

The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019.
