Dengue claims 10 more lives in 24 hours

Bangladesh has logged 10 more deaths from dengue infection in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning.

At the same time, a total of 2,047 new patients were hospitalized for the disease all over the country.    

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the new patients, 460 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and 1,587 outside the capital.  

The number of dengue patients undergoing treatment is 8,336 across the country, said DGHS. 

The total dengue death toll this year has risen to 1,158 setting a new record in the country’s history.        

So far, the DGHS has recorded 237,251 dengue cases and 227,757 recoveries this year. 

The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019.
