Bangladesh logs record 24 more dengue deaths in 24 hrs

Bangladesh has logged 24 more deaths from dengue infection in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

This is the highest death toll in a single day in the country by the mosquito borne disease.  

At the same time, a total of 1,623 new patients were hospitalized for the disease all over the country.  

The total dengue death toll this year has risen to 1,520 setting a new record in the country’s history.  

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the new patients, 349 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and 1,274 outside the capital.                  

The number of dengue patients undergoing treatment is 5,755 across the country, said DGHS.

So far, the DGHS has recorded 296,665 dengue cases this year.           

The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019.
