Dengue claims two more lives in a day

Bangladesh has logged two more death from dengue infection in the last 24 hours till Monday morning.

At the same time, a total of 682 new patients were hospitalized for the disease all over the country.        

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the new patients, 135 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and 547 outside the capital.    

The total dengue death toll this year has reached 1,634, setting a new record in the country’s history.

Meanwhile, the number of dengue patients undergoing treatment is 2,689 across the country, said DGHS.       

So far, the DGHS has recorded 314,388 dengue cases and 310,065 recoveries this year.            

The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019.
