Dengue claims 7 more lives

Bangladesh has logged seven more deaths from dengue infection in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

At the same time, 349 new patients were hospitalized for the disease all over the country.    

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the new patients, 62 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and 287 outside the capital.        

The total dengue death toll this year has reached 1,674, setting a new record in the country’s history.

Meanwhile, the number of dengue patients undergoing treatment is 1,891 across the country, said DGHS.  

So far, the DGHS has recorded 318,305 dengue cases and 314,740 recoveries this year.        

The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019.
