The funds, pledged by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), will cover “food for more than 250,000 people and tents for 20,000 families” in Gaza, KSrelief announced, reports Al Jazeera.

The donation comes as the UN agency faces a funding shortfall, after more than a dozen Western countries, led by the US, suspended their support over Israeli claims that 12 of its members participated in Hamas’s October 7 attack.

More than a dozen global aid groups have signed an open letter calling on the EU states to resume funding to the UN agency, saying other agencies cannot replace its “central role” in the humanitarian response in Gaza.
