Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a man and seized two gold bars weighing 1kg from his possession from Panchbhulat frontier under the Sharsha upazila of Jashore on Saturday.

The detainee is Saidur Rahman, son of Abdul Halim of Agrabhulat village under the upazila.

According to the release, acting on a tip-off BGB personnel detained Saidur Rahman in the afternoon while he was preparing to cross the border for gold smuggling.  

The estimated value of the seized gold is Tk 95 lakh, it added.
