A devastating fire broke out at the S Alam Refined Sugar Industries Ltd at Moijjartek in Chattogram on Monday afternoon.

The fire started around 4:00 pm at the mill, owned by S Alam Group, located on the bank of the Karnaphuli River, said Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Assistant Director Md Abdul Malek, Daily Sun reported.

The cause behind the fire could not be ascertained immediately, he added.

Seven firefighting units from different stations rushed to the spot and were trying to extinguish the blaze that erupted at the mill’s warehouse.
