Govt fixes reasonable prices for 29 food products

Amid the rising prices of daily commodities during Ramadan, the government has fixed reasonable prices for 29 agricultural products at production, wholesale, and retail levels across the country, reports Daily Sun.

Md. Masud Karim, director general (Additional Secretary) of the Department of Agricultural Marketing (DAM), told the Daily Sun that the department has fixed prices for a total of 29 essential commodities according to clause 4 (Jha) of the Agricultural Marketing Act, 2018.

The price will be effective from today (Friday), he said, adding that different government organisations including the Directorate of National Consumers' Rights Protection (DNCRP), different mobile courts under deputy commissioners across the country and the DAM will work collectively to implement the government-set prices, he said.

The DAM has fixed the retail price of Mung Dal at Tk 165.41 per kg, Mashkalai Dal at Tk 166.50, chickpeas (imported) at Tk 98.30 per kg, lentils (fine) at Tk 130.5 per kg, lentils (coarse) at Tk 105.5 per kg and grass peas at Tk 92.61 per kg.

The retail price of Pangas Fish will cost Tk 180.87(culture) per kg, Katol Tk 353.59 (culture) per kg.

Beef will cost at Tk 664.39 per kg, mutton Tk 1003.56 per kg, broiler chicken at Tk 175.30 per kg, Sonali chicken Tk 262 per kg.  Besides, the price of an egg has been fixed at Tk 10.49.

Local onion Tk 65.40 per kg, local garlic Tk 120.81 per kg, imported ginger Tk 180.20 per kg, dry chilli Tk327.34 per kg, green chilli TK 60.20 per kg, cabbage Tk 28.30 per kg, cauliflower Tk 29.60 per kg, brinjal TK 49.75 per kg, bean Tk 48 per kg, potato Tk 28.55 per kg, tomato Tk 40.20 per kg, pumpkin Tk 23.38 per kg, date jahidi Tk 185.07 per kg, fattened rice Tk 60 per kg, banana sagor Tk 29.78 per four-piece and bason Tk 121.30 per kg.
