PM greets Putin on his reelection as Russian President

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday conveyed her heartfelt congratulation to Vladimir Putin on his reelection as the President of Russia.

President Vladimir Putin won a record post-Soviet landslide victory in Russia's election for the fifth term on Sunday.

Vladimir Putin received 87.28% of votes, the highest ever result in Russia's post-Soviet history, Communist Party's Nikolay Kharitonov got 4.31%, the New People party's Vladislav Davankov secured 3.85%, Liberal Democratic Party of Russia's Leonid Slutsky  3.20% in the presidential election, said Russian Central Election Commission chief Ella Pamfilova.

The former KGB lieutenant colonel Putin first came to power in 1999. If Putin, 71, completes his six-year tenure this time, he will become Russia's longest-serving leader for more than 200 years.
