A Dhaka court on Thursday granted the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) request to appoint a receiver to look after the immovable properties of former IGP Benazir Ahmed.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad As-Samsh Jaglul Hossain gave the order following a request by ACC lawyer Mahmud Hossain Jahangir, reports The Daily Sun. 

Earlier on 23 and 26 May, the court ordered the seizure of 621 bigha of lands belonging to Benazir Ahmed and his family members.

ACC has found about 521 bighas of land in the name of the former IGP.

Benazir's wife Zeeshan Mirza owns most of the land, while the remaining 100 bighas of land are owned by Benazir, her three daughters, Farhin Rishta bint Benazir, Tahsin Raisha bint Benazir, Zara Zereen bint Benazir, and relative Abu Saeed Md Khaled.

Also, 276 bigha of land was found in Satpar Dumuria Mauza in Madaripur in the name of Zeeshan Mirza.

These lands were purchased in 113 documents at various times in 2021 and 2022.

The value of the deed is shown as a total of Tk10.22 crore. The court ordered the seizure of 345 bighas of land in 83 documents. The deed value was found to be a little more than Tk16.15 crore.

Apart from this, the court also ordered the seizure of four flats in the capital’s Gulshan area in the name of the family members of the former RAB DG.

Three flats are in the name of his wife, and one is in the name of his youngest daughter. The size of two apartments is 2,353 square feet, and the price is Tk56 lakhs.

The price of the remaining two apartments with a size of 2,243 square feet is Tk53.5 lakh.

The four flats were bought on the same day in the same building, named Rankon Icon Tower.
